The idea for Cold Cup of Water has been flowing for many years.   We envisioned a place where you could find inspiring stories of successful home school students and educators along with articles discussing the latest hot topics.  Life is busy though and we always seemed to put off making it a reality.

What made us prioritize the creation of Cold Cup of Water?  There has been a surge of new home educators here in Kentucky.  This has triggered a renewed interest in creating legislation that would impose further regulations and restrictions on home educators.   We felt encouragement and support was needed now more than ever.

Why the name Cold Cup of Water?  When we began our home school journey, a veteran home educator explained that a teacher would be pouring themselves into others daily.  She used a pitcher of water as a metaphor to represent a teacher.  This wise mentor explained that our spouse, children, friends and causes would all bring their empty cups to us for filling.  She warned to find a way to keep the pitcher full or risk not having anything left to give to others.  In other words, even the teacher needs a Cold Cup of Water.  Matthew 10:42 wraps it up nicely –

“Give a cool cup of water to someone who is thirsty, for instance.  The smallest act of giving or receiving makes you a true apprentice.  You won’t lose out on a thing.”
